The first Latino migrant worker-owned handymen cooperative in the United States opens for business on October 27, 2015. United Handymen Cooperative creates sustainable, just and healthy workplaces for member-owners while providing high quality handymen services to clients. Member-owners embrace cooperative principles of democratic decision-making, education and a deep sense of community.
With the support of the Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, nine socially committed men – community leaders and experienced handymen - developed their worker cooperative business including creating working protocols, implementing democratic decision-making processes, and planning their business structure.
Grounded in values of continuous improvement, honesty and respect, United Handymen Cooperative is accountable to its members, clients and community.
